The Nellie Mae Education Foundation (NMEF), New England’s largest public charity focused solely on education, is looking for a new Communications Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to programs that will have a lasting impact on the educational landscape in New England. The new Communications Officer will provide high-level communication support to help manage the organization’s internal and external communications plan, and take the lead on several major projects, including the management of the Foundation’s paid advertising efforts and management of the Foundation’s digital communications strategy.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, and in consultation with the rest of the management team, the Communications Officer will be responsible for the analysis, planning, writing, and implementation of strategies, tactics, and materials that develop and maintain a strong, positive, and consistent image of the organization and its initiatives within strategic branding and identity standards.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills and be able to summarize complex information accurately and quickly. S/he will have significant experience in a communications, public relations/public affairs or marketing department, and a proven record of developing successful strategic internal and external communications. A self-starter with exceptional project management skills, s/he must have the maturity and intelligence to understand and clearly articulate the Foundation’s long-term organizational strategy and expectations.
